Garry Monk: 'We should have won'

Garry Monk feels that his Swansea City team were worthy of a win in their 2-1 reverse to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Garry Monk has claimed that his Swansea City side deserved more from their 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Wilfried Bony's eighth goal of the season cancelled out Harry Kane's early opener, but Christian Eriksen struck late on to give the visiting Spurs the points, and Monk felt that his charges did enough to win the game.

He told Sky Sports News: "How we've come away with nothing is hard to take. Two individual mistakes cost us dearly and obviously not being clinical enough from creating numerous chances.

"After we gifted them the first goal it took us 10 minutes to readjust and grab the momentum back in the first half. The second half was one-way traffic.

"If that was a boxing match you would have called it off. We had them pinned in and we opened them up at will at times but that's when you have to take your chances and be clinical."

The defeat leaves the Swans ninth in the Premier League.
