Tottenham Hotspur join the race to sign Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles, according to a report.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined the race to sign Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles.

A host of Premier League clubs - including Chelsea and West Ham United - have been linked with the defender, while Everton are said to be preparing a £30m move in this summer's transfer window.

However, according to the London Evening Standard, Tottenham are also very much in the race as head coach Mauricio Pochettino looks to boost his backline.

Lascelles was somewhat surprisingly overlooked by England boss Gareth Southgate for his 2018 World Cup squad despite an impressive 2017-18 season at Newcastle.

The 24-year-old scored three times in 35 appearances for Newcastle during the 2017-18 campaign, and has made over 100 appearances for the Magpies since a move from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2015.
