Sunderland defender Patrick van Aanholt has declared that the signing of Jeremain Lens will benefit the club greatly in the final third of the pitch.
The Netherlands international signed a four-year deal with the Black Cats in an £8m move from Dynamo Kiev.
Van Aanholt believes that the 27-year-old will provide his side with an attacking threat they lacked last season, as only Burnley scored fewer goals in the top flight.
He told the club's official website: "Jeremain will bring experience and goals to the team. He's fast, powerful and strong and he played for the national team last year at the World Cup, so he can not only score goals but also create them.
"We need players like that and I'm looking forward to linking up with him on the left side – they will try to stop us but if our communication is right we can create a lot of chances."
Sunderland open their Premier League campaign against Leicester City on August 8.
