Sunderland have reportedly opened talks with defender Wes Brown over a new deal to keep him at the Stadium of Light until the end of next season.
The 35-year-old joined the Black Cats from Manchester United in 2011, enduring a difficult first couple of years on Wearside due to injury problems before finally settling into the squad.
An 18-month spell on the sidelines led to suggestions that the former England international could call time on his career, but having impressed under Gus Poyet since the Uruguayan came in, the Daily Star claims that an extended contract will now be offered.
Brown has made 25 appearances in all competitions for Sunderland so far this term.
