Former Aston Villa defender Carlos Cuellar signs a two-year deal with Premier League outfit Sunderland.

Sunderland have announced the signing of former Aston Villa defender Carlos Cuellar.

The Spaniard has been linked with a switch to the Stadium of Light in recent weeks after coming to the end of his contract at Villa Park at the end of the season.

Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill has been keeping tabs on the 30-year-old and has been keen to reunite with the defender, who played under O'Neill during the Irishman's time with the Midlands club between 2008 and 2010.

Cuellar, who was rumoured to be considering a move back to his homeland of Spain, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the North East Premier League outfit.
