Michael Laudrup keen to prove his worth in Premier League

Michael Laudrup thinks that he has a tough task ahead of him in the Premier League with Swansea City.

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup believes that he has a lot to prove in the Premier League following his move to the Liberty Stadium.

The 48-year-old became the successor to Brendan Rodgers, who moved to Liverpool earlier this month, by signing a two-year contract.

The former Denmark international, who played for Real Madrid and Barcelona throughout his career, has had spells in charge of Getafe and Spartak Moscow but this is his first time taking the reins at an English club.

"It's true that I have something to prove as a manager," the Daily Star quotes Laudrup as saying. "The Danish league is the Danish league and, while some people from the UK might remember the season I had with Getafe, it was four years ago.

"In Spain I worked at the top level but this is different. It will be very difficult because normally you are from the country or have been playing there. So I have to show what I can do and that's fine. It suits me well. I am looking forward to competing at this level."

Laudrup will begin his campaign with the Swans away to Queens Park Rangers on August 18.
