Brendan Rodgers rules himself out of the running for the vacant Northern Ireland manager's job, for now.

Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant Northern Ireland job.

Nigel Worthington stepped down from the role after last night's defeat to Italy, and a number of candidates, including Rodgers, have been suggested to take up the position.

However, Rodgers has admitted that, while he doesn't want the job now, he would like to manage his country in the future.

"Managing Northern Ireland is something I want to do at some point in my career for sure," Rodgers told the South Wales Evening Post.

"It's my country. It's where I'm from, it's where I grew up and it's a country that I love.

"But hopefully that chance will come towards the end of my career, and I hope that won't be for many years yet. I have got too much energy to be an international manager at the moment. Right now it's not something for me."

Swansea travel to Norwich City in the Premier League on Saturday.
