Marcelino agrees new Villarreal deal

Villarreal reveal that head coach Marcelino has agreed terms on a new contract that will run until 2019.

Villarreal boss Marcelino has agreed a new contract at the Yellow Submarine until the summer of 2019.

The 50-year-old took control of the Spanish club at the beginning of 2013 and guided them back to La Liga after relegation to the Segunda Division.

The Spaniard has since led the team to consecutive sixth-place finishes in Spain's top flight, while the Yellows have also started the new season in strong form, sitting fifth after 11 games of the campaign.

Villarreal have revealed that that a press conference will be held on Monday to present the deal, but all terms have been agreed.

Marcelino has also previously managed the likes of Sporting Gijon, Racing Santander and Sevilla during a well-travelled coaching career.
