Slavisa Jokanovic only focused on winning

Watford boss Slavisa Jokanovic is adamant that he will not alter his approach in his side's coming matches despite the importance of goal difference in the promotion race.

Watford boss Slavisa Jokanovic has insisted that he is only focused on winning matches and not on goal difference in his side's race for promotion to the Premier League.

The Hornets kept up the pace at the top of the Championship as they defeated Millwall 2-0 at The Den thanks to strikes from Matej Vydra and Adlene Guedioura.

Jokanovic's men are equal on points with second-placed Norwich City, but trail them by a single goal on goal difference and are a further 10 goals behind leaders Bournemouth.

"I try to find ways to win the game, goal difference is not under my control," Jokanovic told Sky Sports News. "I don't have plans to win five or six nil.

"It is true that at this stage of the Championship, goal difference is very important, but now we have our next chance in front of us at Nottingham Forest. We didn't have the game under control - I believe we should have had the game under control for more minutes.

"We had some problems during the game, but I can understand this, because it was a very important game and for Millwall too it was an important game. We have a good chance in these four games, but if not we are still strong and we will still go for [promotion] in a different way."

Watford face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in their next game on Tuesday.
