Davy Klaassen has blasted the Premier League for being "all about the money" as the Netherlands international looks to get his career back on track at Werder Bremen.
Klaassen scored over 50 times for Ajax before joining Everton last summer, with the Toffees spending more than £23m to sign the versatile midfielder from Dutch football.
The 25-year-old only made seven Premier League appearances during a disappointing spell at Everton, however, and was sold to Bremen last month.
Klaassen made his Bundesliga debut in Bremen's 1-1 draw with Hannover on Saturday and heavily criticised English football in an interview after the match.
"In England, it's all about the money – because it's just there. Basically the clubs can shop as they want," Klaassen told Aller-Zeitung.
"In Germany, this really big money is not there. The clubs are more concerned with developing an idea, a philosophy. For me, the move to Bremen is also something of a change back to the roots of football."
Klaassen did not score a goal or register an assist in his 16 Everton appearances last season.
