West Bromwich Albion 3-0 Liverpool

Zoltan Gera, Peter Odemwingie and Romelu Lukaku get on the scoresheet as West Bromwich Albion hammer 10-man Liverpool at the Hawthorns.

Steve Clarke's reign as West Bromwich Albion manager has begun with an emphatic win over 10-man Liverpool at the Hawthorns.

The hosts went in front against the run of play two minutes before half-time, courtesy of a 25-yard wonderstrike by Zoltan Gera.

Daniel Agger was shown a straight red card 13 minutes into the second period for denying Shane Long a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

Long missed the resultant spot kick, but the Baggies were awarded another penalty three minutes later when Long was brought down by a clumsy challenge from Martin Skrtel. Peter Odemwingie cooly converted from 12 yards.

On-loan Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku completed the rout on 77 minutes, powerfully heading home Liam Ridgewell's cross from six yards.
