West Bromwich Albion announce that they have parted company with head coach Valerien Ismael after a prolonged run of poor form.

West Bromwich Albion have parted company with head coach Valerien Ismael after just seven months in charge.

When the Baggies appointed the Frenchman in June, it was perceived to be the ideal long-term appointment, the 46-year-old being handed a contract until 2025.

However, despite sitting in fifth position in the Championship standings, performances have been well below expectations, an opinion strengthened on the back of Saturday's 2-0 reverse at Millwall.

Four days on from the defeat at The Den, West Brom have confirmed that they have brought an end to Ismael's time at The Hawthorns.

A club statement read: "West Bromwich Albion Football Club can confirm Valerien Ismael has today left his position as head coach.

"Assistant head coach Adam Murray has also departed The Hawthorns.

"The club would like to place on record its thanks to Valerien and Adam for their efforts and wishes them well in the future. The process of recruiting a new head coach is now under way and an appointment will be announced in due course."

Ismael leaves West Brom having recorded 12 wins and 10 defeats from his 31 matches in all competitions.
