Billy Jones exit 'disappoints' West Bromwich Albion

Director Richard Garlick concedes that he is "disappointed" that Billy Jones left West Bromwich Albion to join Sunderland.

West Bromwich Albion's director of football administration Richard Garlick has admitted that he was disappointed to learn that Billy Jones had opted to depart the club.

The full-back was offered extended terms to remain with the Baggies, but it was confirmed today that he had instead opted to link up with Premier League rivals Sunderland on a free transfer.

However, despite having expressed his dissatisfaction at the 27-year-old's exit, Garlick has stressed that the club have already started to look for a replacement.

"We're obviously disappointed by Billy's decision but wish him well in his future career. With there being no guarantees that Billy would re-sign, we have been preparing for this scenario and will pursue the options we have been exploring in the right-back position," he said.

As well as West Brom, Jones has also played for Crewe Alexandra and Preston North End.
