Jay Rodriguez will reportedly push ahead with his move to West Bromwich Albion, despite the recent appointment of a new manager at Southampton.
The Baggies have missed out on the 27-year-old in the past two transfer windows and feared a repeat this time around following Mauricio Pellegrino's arrival at St Mary's Stadium on Friday.
According to the Express & Star, however, the one-cap England international has been given the green light by Pellegrino to open talks with Albion and it is hoped that an agreement will be reached in the next seven days.
Rodriguez is thought to be valued at around the £12m mark by Southampton, with newly-promoted Newcastle United joining Albion in showing an interest in the forward.
The same report suggests that West Brom boss Tony Pulis is keen to get the ex-Burnley ace on board prior to flying out for a gruelling pre-season training camp in Austria on July 4.
