West Ham United are reportedly gearing up to increase their bid for Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez after their initial offer of £25m was turned down by the Spanish club.
Manuel Pellegrini's side are in line for another summer of hefty spending in the transfer market, having already concluded a £24m deal for Spanish attacker Pablo Fornals and also chasing the signing of French midfielder Morgan Sanson.
According to the Evening Standard, the Hammers are pushing ahead with plans to bring in 22-year-old Gomez, who has scored 30 goals in La Liga over the last two seasons.
Valencia are also in the running for the Uruguay international as Celta look to squeeze maximum value for the player, who has a release clause of £43.5m and three years remaining on his current deal.
Gomez is currently away with his country competing at the Copa America.
