Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has confirmed that Sunderland have accepted the club's bid for winger James McClean.
The 24-year-old Irishman is reported to have fallen out of favour with Black Cats boss Paolo Di Canio during pre-season.
"We have got to have discussions with his agent but we have agreed a fee with Sunderland and the lad is here talking to us now," Whelan told Sky Sports News.
McClean joined Sunderland from Derry City in 2011 for £350,000.
