McLaren's Jenson Button has qualified inside the top ten at Interlagos for the first time since 2005.
The Englishman begins the race behind the Red Bull front row of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber.
Speaking after Saturday's qualifying, Button said: "It was enjoyable in the end because I haven't managed to get into the top 10 here in Brazil since 2005."
Vettel's lap of 1:11.918 was his record-breaking 15th pole of 2011, eclipsing the previous record of 14 set by Nigel Mansell in 1992.
Button's McLaren teammate Lewis Hamilton is alongside Button in fourth, ahead of Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, who rounds off the top five.
Rain has been forecast for this year's final race and could lead to a dramatic climax to the season.
"If it rains, as we're told it may well do - and then it'll almost certainly pour down - that's bound to make things very tricky," added Button.
"Still, this place lends itself to good overtaking. Over the years there have been some great moves into turns one and four. So I think everything is set for Formula One to put on a fantastic show."
The race begins at 4pm GMT.
