Reports linking Carlos Sainz Jr with a switch to McLaren in 2015 have been rubbished by a Formula 1 blogger.
The Spaniard, a product of Red Bull's junior development programme, is rumoured to be close to joining the Woking-based constructor, who ran Honda engines for the first time on Friday afternoon at Silverstone.
However, seasoned F1 blogger Joe Saward has dismissed stories linking the 20-year-old with a switch to either McLaren or Red Bull sister team Toro Rosso, describing the stories as "unadulterated tosh".
Saward wrote: "The Red Bull-funded Spaniard is not in the running for a drive with Toro Rosso, even if he decided to break his Red Bull contract.
"McLaren may have some Spanish sponsors in 2015 but that does not mean that they will be able to dictate an all-Spanish driver lineup, as Fernando Alonso is very clearly on the verge of being announced as a McLaren driver.
"This rubbish has been given wings by the usual sourceless bottom-feeders who need little introduction."
The speculation comes after Mark Webber urged current McLaren driver Jenson Button to turn his back on F1 and compete in sports-car racing from next year.
