Hoylake Golf Course in Liverpool is named as the chosen venue for the 2019 Walker Cup match between the amateurs of Great Britain & Ireland and the United States.

Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake, will host the 2019 Walker Cup match on the 150th anniversary of its foundation.

It will be the 47th fixture of the biennial event, which is played in a similar format to the Ryder Cup, between the amateurs of Great Britain & Ireland and their United States counterparts.

Hoylake was founded in 1869 and has entertained 11 British Open Championships, the latest of which was in 2006, and one previous Walker Cup match - in 1983.

Great Britain & Ireland are the current holders of the trophy, having triumphed 14-12 at the Royal Aberdeen Golf Club in 2011.
