New Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is reportedly currently selling more shirts than Real Madrid's world-record signing Gareth Bale.
Ozil's switch to the Emirates Stadium has been a controversial one, prompting a number of Madrid players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, to question why the club allowed the German international to leave for a £42.5m transfer fee.
Despite Bale joining the Spanish giants for a reported £85m, according to online retailers UKSoccershop.com, Ozil is outselling the Welshman by five to one.
"While it would be untrue to say there is not an interest in Bale shirts, our sales data shows he is being significantly outsold by Mesut Ozil and is not attracting the same level of attention generated by Neymar when he transferred to Barcelona earlier in the summer," the Daily Mail quotes UKSoccershop.com managing director Simon Pretswell as saying.
Ozil completed his move to Arsenal on transfer deadline day, while Bale finalised his switch to the Santiago Bernabeu during the previous day.
