Former Chelsea and Germany midfielder Michael Ballack has backed Mesut Ozil to impress at Arsenal following his big-money move from Real Madrid.

Ozil, 24, joined the Gunners for a club-record £42.5m on transfer deadline day.

"Mesut is a young player and at his peak," Goal.com quotes Ballack as saying.

"I really hope everything works well for him, he will be an addition to the league especially with his technical skills and pace with the ball."

Arsenal return to Premier League action on Saturday when they face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
