The Wembley groundsmen were left red faced during England's Euro 2016 qualifier on Tuesday when a Ladbrokes logo appeared to have been left on the pitch two weeks after the Challenge Cup final.
The betting company are sponsors of the rugby league competition, while competitors William Hill are associated with England's football team.
During the Three Lions' 2-0 win over Switzerland, TV viewers spotted the faded logo on the pitch, and Ladbrokes seemed more than happy with the extra advertisement.
On the company's Twitter page, a message read: "We can't quite put our finger on why, but the Wembley pitch looks particularly good tonight #ENGvSWI."
Stoke City striker Peter Crouch also noticed the mistake and tweeted: "What's with the ladbrokes ghost in each half #ENGvSWI"
In the match, Wayne Rooney became England's all-time record goalscorer, surpassing Sir Bobby Charlton's total of 49 goals.
