Liverpool council have bought Everton's training ground Finch Farm in a reported £13m deal.
The complex has been handed over from Finch Farm Limited, who filed for winding up a number of weeks before the deal was completed.
Reports have claimed that the Toffees will save money by paying market rates to the council as opposed to commercial rates.
"It's a good deal for us and for them," the Liverpool Daily Post quotes Mayor Anderson as saying. "We will get revenue from it and it frees up money for the club.
"When I was approached to see if we could assist, we were happy to. And after a few months of negotiation it was done. This nails the lie that we do nothing for Everton."
The training base is located in Halewood.
