David Beckham visits victims of Philippines typhoon

Retired footballer David Beckham meets hundreds of people that have been left homeless in the Philippines as a result of last year's typhoon.

Retired footballer has visited hundreds of people whose lives have been affected by the typhoon in the Philippines.

Tens of thousands of residents lost their homes when Typhoon Haiyan hit the country back in early November last year.

Beckham, who is as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, visited the city of Tacloban to meet a number of families to hear of their struggle, while posing for photos with the local children.

"I was humbled to visit Tacloban and see how people are still so full of spirit despite the devastation they have suffered," Sky News quotes Beckham as saying.

"As a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, seeing how children are being given a sense of normality amidst the rubble of their communities has been amazing."

More than 6,200 people died as a result of the typhoon.
