The camera on Michael Schumacher's ski helmet could have made his injury worse when he hit his head on a rock while skiing off-piste in the French Alps on December 29, according to a report.
The Mirror claims that experts from French ski academy Ensa are carrying out tests to ascertain if the headcam, which the Formula 1 legend was wearing to film his son on the slopes, could have had an adverse effect on the impact.
"The helmet completely broke, it was in at least two parts," a source close to the investigation is quoted as saying.
"Ensa received one piece of helmet to check the material and all was okay. But why did it explode on impact?
"Here the camera comes into question. The laboratory is testing to see if the camera weakened the structure."
Schumacher, 45, has been in an induced coma at Grenoble University Hospital since the accident in December.
