Former England cricketer Ronnie Irani believes that Paul Gascoigne's alcohol addiction could end his life.
The 46-year-old is believed to have reverted to his drinking ways following a stint in a US rehab facility.
The ex-England football star is thought to have been taken to hospital this week after collapsing in a London hotel.
"When it comes to addictions, alcohol takes the most lives so there's every chance that this could happen," the Daily Star quotes Irani as saying.
Gascoigne's hospital stint occurred just days after he was arrested for allegedly drunkenly assaulting his ex-wife Sheryl at a train station.
