Oscar Pistorius will be released from prison on Tuesday and transferred to house arrest, according to the South Africa parole board.
The six-time Paralympic champion was sentenced to five years in prison on October 21 last year after being found guilty of culpable homicide.
Pistorius shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp through a locked bathroom door on Valentine's Day 2013, but told the court that it was a mistake and that he thought there was an intruder in his house.
Reports from South Africa have suggested that the 28-year-old will be placed under house arrest from Tuesday onwards having served one year in Kgosi Mumpuru prison, where he was held in a single cell.
Attempts in August to release the athlete from prison after 10 months were blocked by South Africa's Justice Minister Michael Masutha on the grounds that the challenge was made prematurely.
Steenkamp's family said at the time that 10 months in prison was "simply not enough".
