Connor Wickham 'contacted police over Adam Johnson girl'

Connor Wickham reportedly contacted police after he became aware of social media posts involving the schoolgirl at the centre of the Adam Johnson trial.

Connor Wickham got in touch with police after finding himself involved in social media posts from the schoolgirl at the centre of the Adam Johnson trial, a court heard today.

Former Sunderland star Johnson is currently on trial accused of sexual activity with an underage girl in January 2015.

On the third day of evidence at Bradford Crown Court, the jury learned that Johnson's ex-teammate Wickham - now plying his trade with Crystal Palace - reported several social media posts made by the alleged victim after Johnson had first been arrested.

In the posts, the girl 'liked' several of Wickham's tweets and also wrote a tweet of her own suggesting that one of her school friends had a crush on Wickham.

There were no suggestions that Wickham had ever had any contact with the girl, who stated that she 'could not remember' the social media posts in question when quizzed in court.

Johnson has admitted to kissing the girl but denies more serious allegations including oral sex and digital penetration.

The trial continues.
