Ukrainian skier Bohdana Matsotska believes that the president of her country, Viktor Yanukovych, should be sent to prison for the deaths of anti-government protesters in Kiev.
The protests, which began back in late November when Yanukovych turned down a trade deal with the EU in favour of closer ties to Russia, have become more violent since Tuesday.
"I think as a minimum he has to be jailed, and for a long time, for all the lives that he took, for all the lives of innocent people that came peacefully to stand for their opinion," she told The AP.
"I hope that I will be heard by the world and that probably somebody will step in and will help."
Matsotska has already decided to withdraw from the 2014 Winter Olympics Games in Sochi as a mark of protest against the Ukrainian government.
