Japan's Hoshi Natsumi grabs gold in the 200m butterfly final at the World Championships in Kazan.

Japan's Hoshi Natsumi has taken gold in the 200m butterfly final at the World Championships in Kazan.

The USA's Katie McLaughlin led the way at the 50m mark and continued her dominance to keep a slender lead at the halfway point.

It was not until the final 50m when Natsumi stormed ahead of the field and, in the end, comfortably sealed victory in 2:05.56 to take the top spot on the podium.

McLaughlin fell away in the final 25m and finished sixth as her USA teammate Cammile Adams came through to clinch silver.

China's Zhang Yufei set a new junior record of 2:06.51 to claim bronze.
