Great Britain delay Davis Cup final departure over security fears

Great Britain delay their departure for next week's Davis Cup final by 24 hours until Monday, as fears continue to grow over an imminent terror attack in Belgium.

Great Britain's Davis Cup team have delayed their departure to Belgium by 24 hours due to the current uncertainty surrounding the final.

Team GB's showdown with Belgium is due to be held in Ghent, but there are fears that capital city Brussels could be under threat from a similar terrorist attack to the one witnessed in Paris last week.

International Tennis Federation president David Hagerty revealed on Saturday evening that he was 'greatly concerned' about the terror-alert risk being increased to its highest level in the country, which has already forced the postponement of certain other sporting events.

Britain had been due to fly out on Sunday afternoon prior to the start of the final next Friday, but they will now wait until Monday before making a further decision.

Last week's terror attacks in Paris saw 130 people lose their lives, with those involved in the coordinated attacks thought to be from the Molenbeek district of Belgium's capital city.
