Grigor Dimitrov will take on top seed Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals of the China Open following a 6-4 6-4 victory over Pablo Andujar.
After the Bulgarian won his opening game of the first set, both players failed to hold serve in the next five matches, leaving the set 4-2 in Dimitrov's favour.
Andujar was able to eventually break back, but Dimitrov responded instantly to secure a break and set point in Beijing.
Both players relinquished break points early in the second set, which left games going by the way of serve until Dimitrov found the breakthrough.
The 23-year-old, who is challenging for a place at the ATP World Tour Finals in London this November, managed to break Andujar's serve to secure the set point.
