Britain's Andy Murray is out of the Madrid Masters after losing in straight sets to Tomas Berdych this evening.

Andy Murray has missed out on a place in the semi-finals of the Madrid Masters after losing in straight sets to Tomas Berdych this evening.

The British number one found himself a break up midway through the first set, but the world number six hit back straight away, taking the set to a tie-break.

The Czech player dominated the tie-break, rushing to a 5-1 lead and volleying from the baseline to seal the set.

After breaks in the first two games of the second set, it was Berdych who edged ahead, breaking again in the fifth game, giving him enough of an advantage to serve out the match.

Berdych will face either Stanislas Wawrinka or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the last four tomorrow.
