World number one Novak Djokovic beats Richard Gasquet in straight sets to reach the Wimbledon final.

Defending Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic has booked his place in this year's final courtesy of a straight-sets victory over Richard Gasquet this afternoon.

The world number one saw off his French opponent 7-6(2) 6-4 6-4 to seal his fourth appearance in the final at the All England club, where he will face the winner of Andy Murray and Roger Federer's semi-final.

Djokovic made a dominant start to the match and he put Gasquet under pressure early on by breaking his serve in the second game to establish a crucial lead.

However, Gasquet hit back with a break of his own thanks to an impressive backhand winner and he took the next set to level the scores

Gasquet continued to hold his own against the Serb, as both players won their remaining service games to set up a tie-break.

The Frenchman quickly fell behind to an ace from Djokovic, but he levelled thanks to a long forehand from the Serb. Djokovic then found his form to take a 4-2 lead, before reeling off three straight points to take the first set.

Djokovic began the second set in dominant fashion and he broke Gasquet in the first game with a forehand winner to establish an early advantage.

It was one that he would not relinquish, as he showed his best form to hold serve and keep his opponent at bay to take the second set.

Gasquet struggled to come up with a response and he looked visibly tired as he hooked a backhand wide to give Djokovic a vital break in the third game of the third set.

Djokovic was then able to comfortably serve out the match and earn a spot in Sunday's showpiece occasion, where he will have the chance to win his third title at SW19.
