England's Mercy Brown narrowly misses out on weightlifting medal

Mercy Brown misses out on a bronze medal by just six kilograms in the women's 75kg weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games.

England's Mercy Brown has narrowly missed out on a medal in the women's 75kg weightlifting event at the Commonwealth Games this evening.

The European Under-17 bronze medallist lifted a total weight of 203kg at the Clyde Auditorium, to fall short of a podium finish by just six kilograms.

Marie-Eve Beauchemin-Nadeau of Canada took gold, while Samoa's Mary Opeloge and Fiji's Apolonia Vaivai took silver and bronze respectively.

Beauchemin-Nadeau's combined lift of 250kg is a new Games record.
