Arsenal delay Olivier Giroud, Aaron Ramsey comebacks from injury

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirms that Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud face more time on the sidelines in order to build up fitness.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey will not make their comebacks from injury just yet.

Ramsey provided an apparent injury boost on Wednesday when reports emerged claiming that the midfielder has returned to full training after missing the past eight weeks with a hamstring problem.

However, Wenger has confirmed that the Wales international could be absent from a handful of upcoming matches as he does not want to rush the 25-year-old back into the fold.

Giroud, who has been nursing a toe injury in recent weeks, will be given the same treatment, meaning that both he and Ramsey will not be in the squad for Saturday's Premier League clash against Swansea City.

"I'm disappointed because Ramsey has worked very hard and he had a few little setbacks that forced us to be cautious with him," Wenger told reporters in Thursday's press conference. "He's on the last stage, he's building up his fitness. Next week will come too early for him.

"We have decided that we will give him a complete pre-season now, even if he misses more games. Giroud will be the same. We have to build his fitness up again."

Meanwhile, Francis Coquelin and Lucas Perez are available to play.
