Nigel Adkins: 'League positions will fluctuate'

Southampton boss Nigel Adkins refuses to take too much from the fact that his side moved out of the relegation zone with their 1-1 draw with Arsenal this afternoon.

Southampton boss Nigel Adkins has refused to look too far into his side moving out of the relegation zone.

The Saints rose up to 17th in the Premier League table with a 1-1 draw against Arsenal this afternoon, leapfrogging Wigan whom they now lead on goal difference.

However, Adkins believes that things at the bottom can change very quickly given the proximity of the clubs fighting relegation.

"It just shows things are close at the bottom," said Adkins.

"One victory or result and it's going to keep fluctuating.

"The performance on the back of the Stoke performance demonstrates everyone's working hard and fighting for each other."

The Saints' next match comes against Chelsea in the FA Cup before returning to league action against Aston Villa.
