West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has backed Carl Jenkinson for a place in the England squad.
The Arsenal defender, who is on loan at Upton Park, has earned one cap for the senior side, and was named in the Under-21s squad earlier this week.
However, the manager told reporters: "There seems to be a particular problem at right-back at the minute for England, and I think Carl has the potential, based on my short time with him, of getting a chance.
"Maybe if it is in a friendly he can get his chance. He's been at Charlton, then Arsenal and he's now playing regularly for us on loan.
"It just seems that Kyle Walker particularly has been out for a long time and Glen Johnson at Liverpool seems to get the odd injury here and there. Right-back has become a bit of a challenge for Roy [Hodgson]. For him, it's a question of who are they and where are they?"
Jenkinson has made seven appearances for the Hammers in the Premier League this season.
