Gabriel Paulista: 'I made Arsenal move to win biggest titles'

Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista hopes to give the club a boost in order to win major honours following his arrival from Villarreal.

Gabriel Paulista has claimed that he joined Arsenal in order to compete at the highest level and win major honours at the club.

The 24-year-old completed his move to North London from Villarreal last night following much deliberation, for a fee reported to be in the region of £15m.

His new side are on course to finish in the top four of the Premier League once more, while they are also still competing in both the FA Cup and Champions League.

Paulista, who spent 18 months at the Yellow Submarine before making his switch to the Emirates Stadium, is hopeful that he can now help Arsenal push on in the coming months.

"I know that we have great players of a high standard, players who are real stars, because if they were not stars they wouldn't be here," he told the club's official website.

"Arsenal is a very big team and it must always be competing for the biggest titles in the world. I have to repeat it - Arsenal must fight for all the most important titles around."

The Gunners have now signed two players this month, following the arrival of Krystian Bielik from Legia Warsaw.
