Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has admitted that if money is Robin van Persie's incentive then he will leave the club this summer.
The Gunners frontman, who was the Premier League's top scorer last term, has been often linked with a move to league champions Manchester City.
"He is vital to us and has been an extremely good captain," the Sunday Mirror quotes Hill-Wood as saying.
"But if somebody comes along and offers Robin £250,000 a week then I am afraid we cannot compete with that.
"With players, you never know what they are going to do."
Hill-Wood added that he hoped the Dutchman, who is currently at Euro 2012, will stay at the club as he feels they will make a real challenge for the title next year.
