Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba has agreed to join Arsenal but the two sides must still agree a fee, according to a report.

Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement with Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba to become their first signing of the summer.

The 18-year-old has apparently attracted the attention of a number of European clubs, including Premier League champions Manchester City, after impressing in Ligue 1.

French outlet Foot Mercato claims that Arsenal recently stepped up their interest in the centre-back and they are close to completing a deal.

Arsenal now have to agree a fee with Saint-Etienne, the report suggests, with an offer in excess of £25m likely to be required if Les Verts are to cash in.

Saliba made 16 appearances in the French top flight last season and is a France Under-19s regular.
