Bayern Munich reportedly signal their intention to rival Arsenal in the race to sign Chelsea forward Kai Havertz.

Bayern Munich are reportedly ready to step up their interest in Chelsea forward Kai Havertz.

Since the end of the season, it has become apparent that the 24-year-old could be sold by the Blues as they bid to boost their position with FFP.

While Mauricio Pochettino had seemingly been interested to retain the services of the Germany international, there has been unexpected interest in his signature.

That initially came from Real Madrid before they ended their efforts due to Chelsea's asking price, said to be somewhere in the region of £70m.

Although Arsenal are known to possess a similar stance on that factor as Real, it has been reported that the Gunners are still prepared to negotiate with their London rivals.

Earlier this week, a report suggested that Havertz was ready to receive a contract offer from Arsenal, with the perception being that agreeing personal terms would be a formality.

According to The Times, Mikel Arteta's side are preparing to make an approach that will be in excess of £55m in a bid to tempt Chelsea into a sale.

Whether that proves to be successful remains to be seen, yet it appears that Chelsea may have an alternative offer on the table if they decide to rebuff Arsenal's offer.

German journalist Florian Plettenberg says that the Bundesliga champions are ready to join the race for the former Bayer Leverkusen star.

Head coach Thomas Tuchel is no stranger to working with Havertz with the versatile attacker having regularly featured down the middle of his attack during his time in West London.

Furthermore, Havertz scored the winning goal for Tuchel's Chelsea side when they beat Manchester City in the 2021 Champions League final, and the player may theoretically be open to a reunion.

As it stands, though, it is unclear whether Bayern will be prepared to match any offer made by Arsenal, or if Havertz will prefer to stay in the Premier League over returning to his homeland.

Despite a contract renewal still being an option for Havertz, it appears increasingly likely that the club and player are ready to part ways, Chelsea needing to be open to offers due to a need to balance their books by June 30.
