A report claims that Everton may abandon their pursuit for top attacking transfer target Olivier Giroud if Arsenal do not make him available to purchase in the next week.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has reportedly made clear to Arsenal that he wants a decision to be made next week over the future of Olivier Giroud, or else he will pull out of the race to sign the striker.

The Toffees are one of a number of clubs to have been tipped to make a move for the France international, who has previously admitted to being frustrated by his lack of Premier League starts last season.

Giroud is said to be Everton's top remaining transfer target for the forward line, having already splashed out around £91m on new recruits during the off-season to strengthen across the field.

According to The Mirror, the Merseyside outfit are keen to get a £25m deal over the line, but they will not be held to ransom and are prepared to look elsewhere if unsuccessful over the next seven days.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger recently claimed that Giroud is happy to remain at the Emirates Stadium for at least another year to fight for a regular starting spot.
