Liverpool are confident of signing Fluminense midfielder Andre during the January transfer window, according to a report.

Liverpool are reportedly confident of signing Fluminense midfielder Andre when the January transfer window opens for business.

The 22-year-old was linked with a move to Anfield over the summer, but the transfer market closed with the Brazil international remaining in Rio de Janeiro.

Andre's future is again the subject of speculation, with Arsenal believed to have joined the race for the midfielder, who is likely to be on the move at the start of 2024.

However, according to Football Insider, Liverpool are expected to win the race for the Brazilian in January, with Arsenal set to be frustrated in their attempts to acquire him.

The presence of his Brazil teammates Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus at Arsenal, in addition to sporting director Edu, had allegedly placed the Gunners in a strong position.

However, Liverpool 'remain optimistic' when it comes to their chances of bring Andre to Anfield when the winter window opens for business.

The Brazilian has a contract with Fluminense until the end of 2026, and he has represented his current side on 157 occasions, scoring four times and registering three assists.

Fluminense are in the Copa Libertadores final, with Boca Juniors their opponents at the start of November, and Andre will be aiming to help his side win the trophy.

The midfielder was a part of the Brazil squad during the recent international break, featuring off the bench against Venezuela on October 13, and he was then expected to start against Uruguay due to an ankle problem for Casemiro.

The Manchester United midfielder ultimately returned against Uruguay, playing the full 90 minutes, but he will not be involved in his club's side clash with Sheffield United this weekend.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is said to be determined to bring in Andre, with the German looking to further boost a midfield department which has been overhauled of late.

The Reds are currently preparing for Saturday's Premier League clash with Everton, while Arsenal are in league action away to Chelsea later in the day.

Fluminense will face Red Bull Bragantino in their next league match on Sunday, while they will also take on Goias, Atletico Mineiro and Bahia before the end of the month.
