Mikel Arteta has reportedly already discussed potential signings with Arsenal as the Spaniard prepares to become the London club's new head coach on a long-term contract.
Freddie Ljungberg remains in charge of the Gunners on an interim basis following the departure of Unai Emery, but Arteta is believed to be on the verge of being announced as the new boss.
According to The Independent, the Manchester City assistant has already identified potential new signings at the Emirates Stadium ahead of the opening of the winter transfer window.
The report claims that Arteta is behind the idea of a clear-out at the club, with a number of players expected to leave as the former midfielder prepares to rebuild the struggling side.
Meanwhile, the 37-year-old, who will reportedly be in charge for Saturday's Premier League clash with Everton, will allegedly keep Ljungberg at the club in an assistant role despite wanting to bring in his own staff.
Arsenal are currently 10th in the Premier League table with just 22 points from 17 matches.
