Paris Saint-Germain move ahead of Arsenal in Houssem Aouar race?

Paris Saint-Germain reportedly edge ahead of long-term admirers Arsenal in the race to sign Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly identified Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar as a transfer target for 2021.

Despite strong interest from the French champions and Arsenal earlier this year, the playmaker eventually remained at the Groupama Stadium.

However, speculation persists regarding the future of the 22-year-old, who is expected to eventually sign for a bigger club.

According to RMC Sport, the PSG and Lyon hierarchies plan to hold discussions regarding a transfer in the coming months.

While Aouar holds a contract until the end of the 2022-23 campaign, there is said to be little chance of the player penning fresh terms as he looks to take on a fresh challenge.

Lyon currently sit one point ahead of PSG in the Ligue 1 standings after recording a surprise 1-0 win at Parc des Princes on Sunday.
