Arsenal had a late deadline-day approach for Juventus forward Simone Zaza knocked back by the Italian champions, according to a report.
The 23-year-old only joined Juve from Sassuolo in July but had been linked with a move away from Turin, with West Ham reported to have been interested in signing the Italian international.
According to Sky Italia, Arsenal made contact with the striker's agent yesterday and contacted the Serie A club on deadline day, but their advances were rebuffed.
The report claims that Juventus turned down the approach as they had already let Fernando Llorente join Sevilla, and with the European transfer window having closed on Monday night they would have been unable to find a replacement.
Arsenal were the only Premier League club not to sign an outfield player this summer.
