Newcastle United are reportedly chasing a deal to take Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs on loan until the end of the season.
According to the Daily Mail, Gunners manager Arsene Wenger will only let Gibbs leave if he is confident that he has adequate cover for Nacho Monreal in the position.
Arsenal are hoping to wrap up a deal for Leicester City teenager Ben Chilwell on deadline day, which will be pivotal in any arrangement for Gibbs to move to the North-East.
Gibbs has started just two Premier League games for Arsenal this season after falling behind Monreal in the pecking order and is said to be desperate for more game time to boost his chances of making England's Euro 2016 squad.
As well as the deal for Gibbs, Magpies manager Steve McClaren is also hoping to sign striker Seydou Doumbi from Roma today.
