Xavi has responded after Arsene Wenger accused the World Cup winner of being 'disrespectful' through comments he made about Cesc Fabregas's proposed move to Barcelona.
Wenger was unhappy after the 31-year-old said that Fabregas is suffering as he waits for the two clubs to strike a deal.
"It seems absurd to me," said Xavi. "I was only acting in the interest of Cesc and Barca.
"But that's that and I really don't want to get into a war of words with Wenger. I didn't want to offend anyone."
Barca manager Pep Guardiola said yesterday that the Gunners had agreed to negotiate on the sale of the 24-year-old.
