Steve Bruce talks up psychological impact following victory over Aston Villa

Hull City manager Steve Bruce suggests that his side's victory over Aston Villa can help to inspire a rally to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

Hull City boss Steve Bruce has suggested that his side's 2-0 victory over Aston Villa will provide his team with the confidence needed to help avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The Tigers claimed an important win at the KC Stadium as they aim to climb away from the foot of the table, with goals from Nikica Jelavic and Dame N'Doye proving the difference.

"We took a bit of confidence from the weekend. It was nice to beat a team that was in and around us," said Bruce, according to BBC Sport.

"Psychologically it's good for everybody. That was more like what I've been used to seeing for the last two and a half years. We've given ourselves as good chance."

The Tigers now occupy 15th spot in the league standings, having collected 23 points from 25 games so far this season.
